The 2010 annual awards event was held in the Altens Thistle Hotel, Aberdeen on 1st July. Apprentices received Modern Apprenticeship, Further Education and SVQ certificates from John Harrison of Skills Development Scotland and annual awards from Alan McIntosh president of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering.
Mr McIntosh said: "Trade skills are an absolute must and Modern Apprenticeships continue to produce high quality crafts men and women who add tremendous value to the country's economy. In my own field, the craft of plumbing, the country would simply not function without them. This can also be said for the complete range of skills represented here tonight. In the audience we have young engineers who will keep North Sea helicopters flying, build new structures onshore and offshore, install and maintain renewable energy systems- and may even go on to produce some new inventions along the way. My congratulations to all of you and may I wish you the vey best for the future".

A new course entitled Preparing & Assembling Instrument PipeWork has been added to the Tullos Training short course portfolio. The ECITB endorsed course is run over 2 days and is derived from the ECITB TECSkills training unit specifications IPF11 and IPF12.
The course focuses on the range of small bore tubing systems used in the oil & gas industry, with particular emphasis on the correct methods of assembly in each case.
Small bore tubing failure has been identified by HSE as one of the main contributors to the number of major and significant gas hydrocarbon releases offshore.
