F-GAS
F-Gas Support has asked City & Guilds to clarify the status of the Handling Refrigerants (2078) as an interim qualification under the new F-Gas legislation. The following statement has been posted by City & Guilds:
"F-Gas Support have stressed that the 2078 qualification will not be valid as an interim qualification if achieved after 9 March 2009 (for existing engineers) or after 4 March 2009 for new entrants to the industry. Achieved 2078's before these dates would be counted as an interim certificate under the legislation".
Tullos Training understands that all existing engineers and new entrants will require to achieve 2079 by July 2011.

Top Apprentices Receive Awards
The 2010 annual awards event was held in the Altens Thistle Hotel, Aberdeen
on 1st July. Apprentices received Modern Apprenticeship, Further Education
and SVQ certificates from John Harrison of Skills Development Scotland
and annual awards from Alan McIntosh president of the Chartered Institute

In my own field, the craft of plumbing, the country would simply not function without them. This can also be said for the complete range of skills represented here tonight. In the audience we have young engineers who will keep North Sea helicopters flying, build new structures onshore and offshore, install and maintain renewable energy systems- and may even go on to produce some new inventions along the way.
