At Tullos Training, we help bring applicants and employers together using our Employer Pairing Database. For the applicant, this involves a short aptitude test at the centre on general knowledge, mathematics and mechanical comprehension. On passing the aptitude test, candidates are then given a short interview by a member of Tullos Training staff before being added to the database. Once one the database, the candidate’s application form is circulated to employers who require assistance with their apprentice requirement.
For apprentice employers, this means that we have a database of candidates who are actively seeking an apprenticeship role and have already completed an aptitude test. Apprentice recruitment can be overwhelming due to the high demand for Modern Apprenticeships in Scotland causing an increase in applications received – some employers have reported receiving over 300 applications for a single role. Receiving applications from our Employer Pairing Database makes the process much less time consuming.
Candidates may start to receive communications from interested employers who would like to arrange further recruitment stages such as interviews, facility tours, work experience or practical recruitment days. Communication is key so it is important that candidates are checking their emails and voicemail to ensure they don’t miss any opportunities.
There is no specific time frame on how long it takes to find an apprenticeship. For some, it can take a few weeks, for others, a few months or even longer.
Modern Apprenticeships are in high demand and can start at anytime of the year. Employers are constantly recruiting so it is important for candidates to stay positive throughout their search and don’t let themselves feel discouraged by rejection as the next opportunity could be right around the corner.
