SPE Offshore Europe 2025: Tullos Training’s Jim Booth on Future Proofing Energy Skills
Tullos Training is delighted to announce that Training Executive, Jim Booth, took part in the Future Proofing Energy Skills panel at SPE Offshore Europe 2025, one of the world’s leading energy conferences.
The session, chaired by Elizabeth McAlpine, People & Culture Committee SPE Aberdeen Section, brought together industry leaders, educators and policymakers to discuss how the energy sector can attract, develop and retain the skilled workforce required for a rapidly evolving energy future.
Representing Tullos Training, Jim joined panellists including Aimee Maitland (Interim Director, DYW North East), Mike Paul (Head Teacher, Bucksburn Academy) and David Salmond (Business & Community Support Officer, Bucksburn Academy). The discussion explored the importance of building strong links between education and industry, ensuring young people are inspired and prepared to pursue careers in energy.
Throughout the session, Jim highlighted the need for collaboration across the sector: “Meaningful collaboration is so important at this level, we need the young people to be in a place where apprenticeships are their first choice. Working with both schools and DYW is so rewarding and inspiring, school pupils are our future workforce, so we need to give them the seeds to grow, we need to do this together.”
Tullos Training remains committed to equipping the next generation of energy professionals with the technical expertise and transferable skills required to thrive in the transition to a diverse energy mix.
