Tullos Training Apprentice Competes in SkillPLUMB Scottish Heat

Tullos Training is proud to congratulate Sam Mitchell, an apprentice with Derek Scott Plumbing and Heating, who recently took part in the SkillPLUMB Scottish Heat on Friday 13 June 2025 at South Lanarkshire College.

SkillPLUMB is a prestigious national competition that brings together the best plumbing apprentices from across Scotland, testing their technical ability, accuracy and problem-solving skills under timed conditions.  The competition reflects the high standards and expertise expected in the plumbing and heating industry.

Steve Arbuckle, Sam’s lecturer, said “Sam has been a credit to Tullos Training and his employer.  He has produced some outstanding work throughout his apprenticeship and I’m sure he will go far in his profession.”

Sam’s participation in this year’s Scottish Heat is a fantastic achievement and recognition of his hard work, commitment and developing expertise in his trade.  While he narrowly missed out on a place in the WorldSkillsUK final, Sam rose to the challenge and delivered an excellent performance.

The experience has given Sam the opportunity to showcase his skills alongside some of the country’s top apprentices and provided valuable preparation for his future career in the industry.

Everyone at Tullos Training is proud of Sam’s hard work, commitment and professionalism.  Competing at this level is an outstanding achievement and reflects the high standards being set by apprentices in the North East.
